Best Songwriter?

I’ve been listening to a lot of Bob Marley today. There is something about his music that makes for the best companion throughout my day.

Lyrically, he covers a wide range of subjects; politics, social injustices, racism, classism, war, education, self-realization, and empowerment just to name a few.

Using reggae, Bob Marley was able to speak about these subjects AND still be groovy, appealing to a sort of universal audience. The cool thing is, no matter how political the message, you always walk away knowing and feeling that he lives for peace and love.

Bob Marley’s music is informative, inspirational, timeless and is embraced by all.

He is definitely one the greatest songwriters, isn’t he?

What do you think? Who is up there on your ‘greatest songwriter’ list?

  1. Paul McCartney, and John Lennon…. the Beatles man! I can’t get enough of that stuff! But at the same time Marley might trump them as one man against a “band”
