I’m so busy packing for my trip to Oklahoma that I forgot it was Tunesday! Here’s the installments for the day…

1. ‘So In Love’ (feat. Anthony Hamilton) by Jill Scott: Man-o-man, remember the Neo-Soul movement? D’Angelo’s Voodoo, then there was Raphael Saadiq’s Instant Vintage. What about Erykah Badu’s Baduizm? Gosh… Maxwell, Angie Stone, Musiq Soulchild, Dwele, Indie.Arie… those are just a few names off the top of my head. I remember they all had albums where I actually listened to the whole thing, I never pressed the ‘skip’ button. Jill Scott is another name you have to drop in this great list of artists that make up the genre Neo-Soul.

‘So In Love’ is her first single on her next album The Light of the Sun set to be released in June. I’m not sure what the tone of the album will be, but if it’s anything like the 70’s groove and disco ball feel of ‘So In Love’, it should be a great album.

2. ‘Life or Something Like It’ by Outasight: Found this song on his EP Figure 8 and I was impressed. I think I would get along with Outasight, I can tell he’s inspired by a lot of different types of music.

The five songs featured on the EP range from pop-ish, rock-ish, to rap-ish. Somebody at Apple put Outasight in the ‘Hip-Hop/Rap’ genre, but I don’t know if it belongs there. Maybe Outasight is trying to create a new genre, who knows, nevertheless, I liked ‘Life or Something Like It’, any song that has “Wake up in the morning” in the lyrics, I’m all over it for some reason. I wonder what his live performances are like?

3. ‘Gone’ by Ian Axel: I purchased this song back in February. The preview was dope and I was really surprised with the entire song! I threw it my ‘Traveling’ playlist and got a buddy of mine to purchase it as well. The song never gets old!

I kinda wanted to point out that Ian Axel and his album This is the New Year has made it to ‘What’s Hot’ section in the iTunes Store! Good to see! Check out the song, let me know what you think.
